Nervous System

Are you experiencing low energy, imbalanced energy or find yourself moody if you miss a meal? Do you suffer from nervousness, anxiety, depression or brain fog? All of these could be a sign of a dysregulated nervous system. A dysregulated nervous system can present itself with an array of symptoms.

What causes a nervous system to become dysregulated?  Too much stress, traumatic events, eating a diet high in sugar and processed foods , poor hydration, poor sleep habits, and alcohol can all cause the nervous system to  become dysfunctional.  When our bodies go through too many of these stressors are sympathetic nervous system becomes overactive or what’s commonly called the fight or flight response.  Insulin and cortisol are then released to balance blood glucose levels by shuttling the glucose into the cells and the rest will be stored as triglycerides. This feels like a burst of energy followed by a huge drop in energy. Many of us ride this roller coaster all day every day. What were looking for is to relearn how to activated our parasympathetic nervous system commonly called the rest and digest nervous system.

If you experience any forms of anxiety and depression this is the first thing that needs to be looked into. This can be the root cause of both of these conditions and can make anxiety, depression or any form of mental emotional issue almost impossible to handle.

This also applies to any dis-ease somebody may be facing. Your body can NOT heal if it’s experiencing stress 24/7 and that’s exactly what dysregulated nervous systems will do. It will effect hormone levels, depress the immune system, effect quality of sleep, make you crave sugary foods, cause leaky gut, invite pathogens into the body, stress the adrenal glands and the list goes on and on.

How do we stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system and not over activate the sympathetic nervous system?

Eat organic foods that are high in nutritional value. Drink plenty of high quality water. Spend at least 20 minutes a day with yourself. Spend time in nature. Walk for 20 minutes a day. Learn how to breath correctly. Cold water exposure. BioCharger sessions. Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping. Journaling or self reflective practices. All of these are great ways to balance the nervous system.
